Weekly News Digest II

As briefly as possible, here are my faves:
-
1. Sports bra saves hiker stranded in alps. The link. She was rescued "after she attracted the attention of lumberjacks by attaching her sports bra to a cable used to move timber down the mountain." "...five helicopters and 80 emergency workers had been searching for Bruinsma since she went missing June 16." All these trained rescue workers searching for days couldn't find a full grown 5'-6' person, but one 34"-36" bra waving in the wind was found by lots of men within minutes. Go figure.
-
2. Caffeinated moms drink up to keep up. The link. Ya think?? Quote from article: "I'm just waiting for someone to invent a caffeine patch that we hit in the morning and we say, 'Time to wake the kids. We're ready to go!' "
-
3. Spanish parliament extends rights to apes. The link. I quote: "Spain's parliament voiced its support on Wednesday for the rights of great apes to life and freedom in what will apparently be the first time any national legislature has called for such rights for non-humans." Again, I am so proud of the human race. I wonder: do you think the apes would treat us so well if the tables were turned?

4. Escalator Spinning. The link. What do you think -- America's newest X-game? Unfortunately, I think girls all over will be trying this. Hmmm... Maybe I'll try it. Connie? Jenn? You in?
