Chillin' at Nana's Crib, Yo

We went up to Charlotte Sunday for Nana's big party at her new pad. (that's "crib" for you grandchildren). Gram has moved into a beautiful Assisted Living Complex. She has been racking up in Bingo and meeting new friends.

Change has always been difficult in my bloodline. I think there's something genetic involved. Most of the females in my family get very homesick and do the "nesting" thing to the extreme. So building a new nest is tough for Gram and emptying her nest is tough for Mom.

Worrying about them both takes me back to Ecclesiastes. Reminds me: this world is not our home, we are here temporarily, keep our eyes focused on things to come -- the hope that is before us. We can be sad today, and in time, we'll be full of joy again. One phase follows another. In time, we adjust to our changes. In time, we will embrace the changes.

Eccl. 1:3-6 "What does man gain from all his labor at which he toils under the sun? Generations come and generations go, but the earth remains forever. The sun rises and the sun sets, and hurries back to where it rises. The wind blows to the south and turns to the north; round and round it goes, ever returning on its course."

Eccl. 3:11 - 13 "He has made everything beautiful in its time. He has also set eternity in the hearts of men; yet they cannot fathom what God has done from beginning to end. I know that there is nothing better for men than to be happy and do good while they live. That everyone may eat and drink, and find satisfaction in all his toil—this is the gift of God. I know that everything God does will endure forever; nothing can be added to it and nothing taken from it."

Eccl. 11: 10 "So then, banish anxiety from your heart and cast off the troubles of your body, for youth and vigor are meaningless."
