Happy Independence Day!

Today we celebrate the Declaration of Independence.
Perhaps mom has had a little too much celebrating?
-
The men who signed the Declaration of Independence knew they'd be forever tormented by the British. Throughout the Revolutionary War, they were all, indeed, persecuted.
-
There were three South Carolina signers -- Edward Rutledge, Arthur Middleton, and Thomas Heyward. All three were captured when the British seized Charleston. They spent a year in a prison in St. Augustine, during which their estates were plundered.

There are so many people to thank for our freedom. -

-

Keep in mind all those in our early years that fought for our independence as well as all those in between who fought to keep it and, most recently, the generation young enough to be my children and whom I hold dear to my heart, who are fighting to bring freedom to the oppressed.

Keep them in your prayers.

And, on that note.....

. . . 45 more days

Instead of leading off with a picture of my lovely cousin, you should have had a picture of me in my dress blues. Wait a second, I never had dress blues. I was a member of the Remington Raiders and was never issued dress blues and I was too poor to buy them. Don't be too impressed by the title of Remington Raiders as that is what they called those of us who worked in the office at MAD, NATTC, NAS, JAXFLA. For those of you too young, the name derived from our using Remington typewriters. Guess that pretty well dates me.
