Fortune's 40 Under 40

Fortune's come out with their 40 Under 40 list -- 40 of Business's Hottest Rising Stars under the age of 40. I had to check it out, I didn't want any surprises in my life, but then I remembered, oops, I'm over 40 now anyway, time flies. Time to aim my sights on the 8 Over 80 list.
-
As expected, most were web-related businesses with the founders of Google, Twitter and Facebook all in the top 5.
-
In the top 40 Innovators, Value Creators & Agents of Change, only 5 are women, one of which was labeled "Street Sweetie" -- Erin Burnett, CNBC. None of the 35 men were labeled "sweetie."
-
The women:
  • Meredith Whitney, Meredith Whitney Advisory Group.
  • Marissa Mayer, VP, Google.
  • Wendy Clark, SVP, Coca Cola.
  • Erin Burnett, CNBC.
  • Gina Bianchini, CEO, Ning.
7 of the 40 never finished college. 1 of the 40 has a Ph.D. Here's the educational breakdown:

  • 2% junior high school
  • 13% finished high school
  • 49% bachelors degree
  • 30% master's
  • 6% doctorate
Personal: 64% are married, 32% single, 4% engaged.

I flipped a few more pages to see the 8 Over 80. All men, probably all white, none for web-based ventures.
