Helpful Hint #559 Multi-Tasking Tools

UNUSUAL USES FOR THE TOOLS IN THE WELL STOCKED, FRUGAL TOOL BOX

If you've been following my column, you know how much I love duct tape. It is the number one multi-purpose tool you should have in your tool box, bar none. But did you know that you can use duct tape to remove a bee stinger? Yup, learned about this just yesterday from a friend.
-
For the sake of simplicity, let’s just call this friend “BUZZ.” Seems BUZZ was home alone and went out in the yard to take some photos of the spring flowers and trees. An angry bee took exception to her invading his space and stung her!
BUZZ had heard the handy dandy little tip of removing stingers with a piece of duct tape, so decided to give it a try. It’s fairly simple to slap a small square of duct tape over a sting on your arm or leg and give a quick yank, pulling the stinger out in one fast jerk.
-
Only problem was that the bee, coward that he [she?] was, had stung her in the middle of her back! The only thing BUZZ could think to do was to tear off a very long piece of tape, grab an end with each hand, do a Wonder Woman flip-er-oo and whip the tape over her head to her back, hoping it landed sticky side down, on top of the targeted stinger!
Amazing!
She had wonderful aim and the tape landed right where it should!
-
Next problem: removing 18++ inches of duct tape stuck to your back without causing major damage to your skin.
-
Maybe she should have tried WD40!
-
(Drop me a note, how would you remove the duct tape?)

...and one more thing......
uh, I'll get back to you when I remember it.

I would remove the duct tape by skootching down in a garden tub and letting the water jets gently unstick the tape while reading a good mystery book. Of course I would probably look like a prune by the time the tape came loose.

Some of us look like prunes without a garden tub.
