Carte Blanche: 007 Book Review

Bond has been given a new lease on life.
Again.
My favorite author is giving life to my favorite character.  Wait, it gets better.  The book was published at the onset of my Summer '11 vacation.   That's some hot karma.

Poor Bond.  He's had 4 previous authors commanding his life.  Nobody compares to the original, Ian Fleming.  But of course that's like nobody can cook like mama.  Comparison is really an unfair advantage.  So now Jeffery Deaver (The Bone Collector, The Burning Wire, etc etc) has decided to tackle the 007 series.  Carte Blanche is the first in the series.  And if we all beg real hard, it will be a Jeffery Deaver series...

So Bond is back and I am so happy to see that Deaver's starting over with Bond changing careers in his mid-thirties.  We don't have to try to recall Bond's history, we're starting fresh and current.

Bond's a veteran of the Afghan War and is approached to join this elite organization with this quirky Admiral named "M" at the helm.  "There's thinking, in some circles, that we need to play by a different set of rules, too.  Especially after Nine-eleven and Seven-seven."

How delicious!  Everybody gets a fresh start.  No pre-conceived notions or personalities.   I can't wait to "meet" the rest of the team!

Speaking of my most excellent karma?

The library notified me, just as I was leaving town for my Summer '11 vacation, Bond was on the reserved shelf and waiting for me.  --  He'd like a ride to the beach.

I am so psyched to spend a week at the beach with my old friend, Bond.... James Bond.
