Dakar 2012: The Long Flight Home

James is on a flight as I write, having withdrawn from the Dakar 2012 during Stage 7 and I want to kick some booty.  As a truck passed him, a rock strategically flew up and hit him in the face.  He was taken to a local hospital where it was determined he would not require surgery.  However, the swelling around his eye socket prevented his helmet from fitting properly, so he withdrew from the rally.

I can't imagine how disappointed he must be....
The course must be particularly difficult this year, people have been dropping out like flies.  Top racers like Jonah Street and Quinn Cody dropped out a few stages ago.  Only one American remains in the bike category:  Ned Seusse.

James said the course was so busy and beat-up this year, it was difficult to gain ground.  Kenny here, photo below, doesn't look like things are too rough over there.

Good job, James!  My prayers are for your speedy recovery.
