Help: My Straw Floats and Bobs in my Soda Can

Guest Writer: Ruth Morse
Late, late, late!! I'm late getting this to Valerie.

Truth be told, she had to remind me that it was the 30th of the month. It can't be, can it?

My excuse is that our church had VBS this week. Lest any of you jump to the conclusion that I was in a sea of kids for 3 hours every morning this week, barely making it home to stumble to bed for a nap, only to wake up to get supper and then get ready for "real" bedtime.......
well, that was not exactly how it went.

Oh yeah, there were seas of children. Kids, kids everywhere! Except in the church library where I was stationed, hunkered over a computer, doing data entry for the registrations. Sounds simple, right? Just sit and type and smile at the blessed quietness of the atmosphere?

One small glitch to that scenario. They played the VBS songs in the halls [as in the hall right outside the library and every other hall in the place] the ENTIRE MORNING! Over and over the songs would roll. "I'm going to twirl, twirl, twirl for Jesus!" "Wherever we go and whatever we do, we're trusting God along............we will soar............"

There were only a few songs that would loop....over and over and over again. For the duration. All 3 hours of it.

That's the reason I'm so tired this week. That's the reason I have no clue what the date is.

Oh well, enough whining. Now to the wonderful household tip you have been waiting for on the edge of your seats.

SODA CANS AND STRAWS.

You know how a straw tends to float in a can of soda? For some reason a straw will not go to the bottom of the can and stay put. Here's the solution:

Just corral that straw with it's own little built in seat-belt, as per the picture. Isn't this a great idea? No more stabbing yourself in the eye with the straw!

Please note that it is not enough to just plop the straw through the ring. Jam that ring over to the side of the opening, thus trapping the straw in a fixed position.

There. One major world problem solved.

More to come next time.....................................

...and one more thing......
uh, I'll get back to you when I remember it.
