Almost Forgot.... A Li'l Sump-Somebody's Birthday....

-

Happy Birthday Steve and Jerry!-
-
Steve and Jerry, father and son, share the same birthday, which is also Aunt Edna's birthday. The big party for Steve and Jerry was last night in the Queen City and, sadly, I missed it.
-
I just spent a few days at the beach with the Hyde family and got to see each of them down there a little bit.
-
-
-
As they were driving home from the beach, my mother called me to ask if I remembered anything about the Atlanta Braves game in which we suckered, I mean snagged Steve as a beau for Lisa. Somehow we pulled a Maslarism 26 years ago and made it sound like we had an extra ticket to the Braves game, so Steve shrugged, "Sure, I'll go." We didn't have an extra ticket, so we had to ditch mom and let Steve have her ticket. After a lovely trip to Atlanta with "The Hog Family," Steve was smitten. Hook, line and sinker, we had 'im. Next: car repairs.
-

That was code for "time with the future father-in-law in which he delves out family speeches and folklore, culminating in a visit with Snoopy - talk back to Snoopy and you're in, act like he's a stupid stuffed animal, you're out."
-
And here's the two lucky survivors of dad's gruelling speeches/car repairs/snoopy visits. These lucky gents were snagged for the Maslar girls.

But enough about us.
-
-
Steve and Jerry brought an exciting blend of fashion into the family. Here they are with Papa Hyde one redneck Christmas Morn. (notice how the checker squares get bigger as the people get bigger? or is that a trick of the eyes?) We miss Papa Hyde so much, he died quite suddenly June 1, 2005.

Steve has recently altered his look, swapping the mustache for a goatee. Here he is last week with wife, Lisa, and sister, Susan.

Those of you who know Steve well, know that this beach scene is the quintessential Steve Hyde.
--
Steve loves his beach and loves his beach umbrellas and he loves his family. Steve is very generous with inviting his extended family to join him. This is how he likes to spend his time.

Well... y'know.... when he's not riding a camel in a casino while his wife gambles in the background or something. No, of course not, they don't gamble, but they do love a good cruise. If they're not at the beach, they are on a cruise.

The last time I saw Steve, he was washing windows. Hope it isn't his second job to pay for all his vacations. Happy Birthday, Steve!!

Now Jerry. Happy Birthday, J!!
-
J loves a good party. He's never too short a party. Like his dad, he has a flare for fashion. J likes Mimi's cookie dough, Starbucks, friends, music and Patti.

The last time I saw J, he was up to his neck in sand, yelling "Give me great Abs! Give me Abs!!!"

I don't get to see J much anymore. He's very busy with life, I hope he's not working too much. Every now and then I try to entice him to join me at Starbucks, but he never shows up.
I usually only get to see him on family vacations.
-
The last time I saw him, before the sand incident above, J was trying to make eye contact with a pretty little thing. She was slumming it in a trashy neighborhood, but J was in hot pursuit.

J, hope you made it to your birthday party last night. I hope you are having a great birthday! I can't wait for the next trip, maybe we can visit a little bit. Happy Birthday!
