Mimi's Flavored Chex Mix

Mimi's Flavored Chex Mix has always been a favorite of Marj. So when she discovered Mimi's pantry was bare on our recent trip across the Catawba, Marj decided to take matters into her own hands. She said those words all Grandmas want to hear: "Mimi, teach me!"

And now, my starving little reader, you get to benefit from Mimi's Bare Pantry.
-
Preheat oven to 300. Melt one whole pound of butter in med. size pan on the stove. Add 1/2 cup worcestshire sauce. Cook over medium heat, stirring a lot, until the butter has melted.
-
Add 1 Tbsp each:
  • garlic
  • onion
  • celery salt
-
And whatever you do, at this point:
Don't Taste It.

-
While the butter is melting, stir together 1/2 of your dry mix:
-
  • 1/2 bag each rice, wheat and corn Chex Mix
  • 1/2 of a 9.25 oz. can of nuts or half cashews
  • 1/2 bag of stick pretzels
  • 1/2 bag of cheese stick snacks or Goldfish
-
It's easiest to use a large roasting pan to mix these up thoroughly.

We discovered Mimi prefers to mix with her bare hands!
-
(This is the part where you'll get a lot of little helpers)
-
Take 1/2 of your melted butter mixture and spread it over the Chex Mix, gently mixing it in with a spatula. Be gentle so you don't break the little Chex Mix pieces. Be sure to mix it evenly, which will require some patience.
-
Put the rest of the dry food in -- Chex Mix, Pretzels and Goldfish, cover with remaining 1/2 of butter mixture and stir it all in good. The less dry mix you use, the tangier the flavor will be.
-
Spread the mix out on flat cookie pans, spread out in a flat layer, don't leave any piles. This is where mom's OCD comes out. She will not leave one piece of Chex Mix piled on another, it will be one layer. Put the pans in the oven and bake at 300 first on the top shelf for 15 minutes, then the bottom shelf for 15 minutes (more OCD) per pan.
And the best part? . . .
-
-
. . . Eating the leftovers!

Yeah, Butter, and I left out all the videos where you'd be cheesin' for 5 minutes then say "Oh are you filming???"
