Cupcake: Take 9

Salted Caramel Chocolate
I thought I had sampled all Cupcake had to offer.
I thought they were stumped.
Fresh out of new ideas.

Then me and the Cool Yule were walking down to Starbucks and saw this blazing beauty through the pink and white windows of Cupcake.  "Come here, my sweet pretty," it beckoned.....

This was the first cupcake in which I could not eat all the icing.  Even the two of us, sharing one cupcake, had to leave a pile of icing.  The first bite was the best:

  • that perplexingly mixed taste of salty/sweet
  • the crunch of blingy chunks of salt!

Oh, yes, that first bite is like a first love.  Nothing thereafter is quite the same.

The 6 year old Cool Yule looked up at me and sighed, "Isn't it all your dreams??!"  That cracked me up.  Such insight for a 6 year old!  Such adoration.  Such {scrunches eyes} hypnotic lust. Yikes.

The chocolate cake was moist and delicious and we ate most of it sans icing.  I slurped up some icing straight a few times.  That salt had a bite.  The caramel drizzle on top mellowed it out, but that drizzle was gone in a hurry.

Afterwards, with teeth curling and chunk of icing in the trash, the Cool Yule looked at me wide-eyed, "It made me want some orange juice."

So.  I don't know what that means.  But she was right.  A little orange juice chaser would have hit the spot.
