Cleaning Your Cordless Phone: One Word of Caution

Guest Writer:  Ruth Morse

Who knew I could get in trouble cleaning?

Here’s what happened. I noticed that our land line hand-held clunky phone was looking a bit gunky. Not just dusty, mind you. Real, honest to goodness gunk. Time to clean the the clunky gunk!

Side note, the AWESOME cleaner I’ve mentioned before is the best thing to use. It’s cheap [Dollar Tree cheap], it’s quick, it does not smell too gaggingly bad.

I had just finished up above cleaning when the phone rung, right in my hand! Surprise, surprise! It was a 911 operator! Gulp! Huh?.....

This is what my phone looks like:

Guess I cleaned that particular button a tad bit too hard, and accidentally made a 911 call. Imagine that? I then must have done a really quicky tricky move and disconnected the call as quick as I made it, ‘cause I had no clue a call had gone through.

But! Come to find out, the 911 operators follow up on all calls no matter what. That’s good to know.

The operator had no sense of humor, as it turns out. He didn’t seem to find my charming little explanation funny at all. I had the feeling he didn’t believe me! I felt like a kid caught making funny phone calls, like DO YOU HAVE PRINCE ALBERT IN THE CAN?

If you don’t know that that last sentence means, ask any senior citizen.

Come to think of it, maybe the 911 operator thought I was a senile senior citizen who should not have a phone anywhere within reach.

At least they didn’t arrive at my door, sirens blaring, to check me out. Or to confiscate my phone.

I just cannot clean it any more.

...and one more thing......
uh, I'll get back to you when I remember it.
