Sausage Velveeta Snack for Appetizers or Super Bowl Party

In the rural farmland of upstate New York there lived two cousins who did everything together.  Their houses were separated by an overgrown hay field in which they carved a trail that zig zagged among the milk weeds, a very sticky mess for two little tomboys.

These cousins grew up, moved away and lost touch for years only to find themselves living close again, for just a couple years, in New Jersey.   It was during this short time together as young adults that Cousin A -- Julie -- gave Cousin B -- Me -- her top secret, highly favored, then un-named snack recipe.

It was love at first bite.

Shortly thereafter....
I named the recipe "Julie's High Fat Snacks."  Original and quite revealing, I know.

I dug this recipe out for a football game party recently, had fond memories of my cousin Julie while I made the snacks and then decided to share the recipe for all.

1 lb ground beef, browned, drained
1 lb ground sausage, browned, drained
1 lb Velveeta cheese, cut up
dash tobasco, salt and pepper
3/4 tsp. oregano

Mix meat and cheese while meat is hot.  Add spices.  Spread mixture on fancy little bread squares or regular rye bread cut in half.  Set these on cookie sheets.  Freeze.  Store in ziplocs once frozen.

To eat:  heat as many as you want at 350 for 10-15 minutes.  Serve hot.
